Mentors usually see their young person once a week. This is the time when they can go out somewhere quiet for a chat a bite to eat, join in an activity or simply go for a walk. Before starting the first session with a young people a volunteer will be required to complete a 10 week “Mentoring Skills” course accredited by the Northeast Open College Network to the equivalent of an NVQ level 1 and level 2.
