Volunteer Case Study Form

Name: Steven KIMBO Kimberley   Age: 18

How did you get involved in volunteering?
(How did you find out about it?  Why did you want to do it?)

I got involved in volunteering when members of VODA came out to visit my school. I wanted to volunteer because I wanted to give back to the community.

What things have you done as a volunteer?
(Where have you volunteered?  Who have you volunteered with?)

Cross Age Tutoring at Monkseaton Community High School

Youth Voice FM where I helped advertise it, taught people how to use the equipment, and had my own rock shows.

I have been involved with many group meetings such as the LMC shadowers.

Also I have been with Stroke North where I assisted elderly on a day visit to Sunderland glass centre.

As well I got involved with the judging panel 2005 and the MV Of The Year Group.

I have met many people through volunteering who are all now my close friends.

How has volunteering helped you?
(What skills have you learned?  How has it changed you?)

I have learned many skills from volunteering. Mainly social skills as I now have many friends and my confidence is at an all time high. I’ve also changed in many ways as I’m more confident about myself and I now enjoy life to the max.

What do you enjoy most about being a volunteer?

I enjoy everything really, the free travel, free dinners and invites to parties. What I enjoy the most is the satisfaction you get from helping others as you feel great within yourself.

I am happy for this information to be used by VODA in promotional materials to encourage others to volunteer:
