Case studies / Daniel Fawcus

Volunteer Case Study Form

Name: Daniel Fawcus     Age: 20

How did you get involved in volunteering?
(How did you find out about it?  Why did you want to do it?)

MV staff came to the Percy Hedley Day Centre to see if anybody wanted to volunteer.  I wanted to develop new skills.

What things have you done as a volunteer?
(Where have you volunteered?  Who have you volunteered with?)

I do drama as part of a Keyfund group.  The group does activities to develop new skills.  We hope to put on performances for the community.  The group is made up of young people with special needs plus young people from Longbenton College.

How has volunteering helped you?
(What skills have you learned?  How has it changed you?)

I have learned how to communicate better and I have developed my leadership skills.

What do you enjoy most about being a volunteer?

Going to events like the one I went to at the Rising Sun
