Youth Voice FM |
Outcome/CYPP action to which this Case Study applies |
| Aim/objective – what were you trying to achieve?
Support young people to run an internet radio station called Youth Voice FM. The young people had been involved previously as participants but wanted to take more of a lead in the project. |
| Description – what did you do, what happened?
We supported the young people to hold weekly meetings and apply for a grant of £3,300 from the Big Boost to purchase more radio equipment and run radio events.
The group run the radio station during school holidays – helping other to use the equipment and promoting the project. They have been successful in their Big Boost application and plan to spend the money in the New Year.
Young people presented shows about a range of issues such as bullying, world café events and whale watching.
Local musicians, mcs and djs showcased their talents.
The project was supported by volunteers, VODA, YMCA, E2000 and partners. |
| Impact – what is the evidence that you made a difference?
Feedback from young people – one young person spoke about his experience at this year’s National Youth Conference.
Many shows were recorded on the computer as evidence. Video footage was also taken including a short film about one person’s experiences. |
