Highlight the importance of Youth Volunteering

Description – what did you do, what happened?

VODA was invited to bring three young volunteers to speak at the National Youth Conference in London, and share their experiences about their volunteering. The volunteers spoke about their reasons for getting involved in volunteering and how it benefited them.

This was a high profile national event and the young people represented North Tyneside in a very positive light.

Impact – what is the evidence that you made a difference?

The young people got experience of public speaking at a prestigious national event. The conference was covered by Young People Now magazine giving the young people national press coverage.

Following on from this event VODA has been asked to nominate young volunteers to run a workshop at another national conference in February. This will provide other young people from North Tyneside with an excellent opportunity which will aid their personal development.

The event also raised the profile of young people volunteering in North Tyneside as it was featured in local and national press.

Film of presentations and feedback from participants.
