Volunteer Centres have been set up across the country to support volunteers and organisations that work with volunteers.  The North Tyneside Volunteer Centre is run by VODA. 

The main aims of the Centre are to:

• Recruit volunteers and help them find a suitable placement to match their interests
• Promote volunteering opportunities as widely as possible through newsletters, Do It website, and press releases
• Provide Good Practice advice and support to organisations that involve volunteers
• Develop strategic links and network to make sure that volunteering is represented in local and regional delivery plans
• Celebrate and promote the achievements of volunteers in the borough by organising events and issuing press releases
• Provide training and accreditation opportunities for organisations and volunteers
